No  Persecution

There  is  no  record  known  to  me  in  the  whole  of  long  history

of  Buddhism  throughout  the  many  centuries  where  its  followers

have  been  for  such  lenghtened  periods  supreme,  of  any  persecution

by  the  Buddhists  of  the  followers  of  any  other  faith.

As medicine Dealing with Diseases

Such is the Buddhist way of life, the way that is opened to all regardless of

caste, sex and race.  The Buddha proclaimed equality of all men.  People are

to be judged by action or character, by what they think and do, not by birth or

colour.  Everyone reaps what he sows according to the natural law of cause and

effect.

There is no God who creates the world and controls man,s destiny.  Man is his

own master.  The way is one of self-effort, free from player and superstition.

Men have the power to improve themselves and reach the higest goal of life

through their own efforts.

As medicine deals with disease and its cure, the Buddha,s teaching deals with

suffering and the end of suffering.  And as the process of medical treatment

includes the prevention of disease by the promotion and maintenance of good health, the Buddha,s process includes the promotion of mental health to reach

perfection and freedom in the absence of defilements and suffering.

   คำสอนเช่นนั้น คือวิถีชีวิตแบบชาวพุทธ วิถีชีวิตที่เปิดรับคนทุกคน โดยไม่เลือกชาติชั้น

วรรณะเพศภูมิ และเผ่าพันธุ์ พระพุทธเจ้าทรงยืนยันภาวะเท่าเทียมกันของมนุษย์ทุกคน ชนทั้ง

หลายถูกพิพากษาด้วยกรรม และนิสัยของตนเอง จากสิ่งที่พวกเขาคิดและกระทำ มิใช่ด้วยชาติ

กำเนิดหรือผิวพรรณ ทุกคนล้วนเป็นทายาทคอยรับผลกรรมดีและกรรมชั่วที่ตนทำไว้ ตามกฎธรรมชาติแห่งเหตุและผล

   ไม่มีพระพุทธเจ้าผู้สร้างโลก และคอยควบคุมชะตากรรมของมนุษย์ มนุษย์เป็นผู้กำหนดชะตา

ชีวิตของตนเอง วิถีนั้นเป็นเรื่องความพวกเพียรเอง ไม่ต้องสวดอ้อนวอน และอาศัยอำนาจลี้ลับ

เหนือธรรมชาติมาช่วย มนุษย์มีอำนาจพัฒนาตนเอง จนบรรลุเป้าหมายสูงสุดแห่งชีวิต ด้วย

ความเพียรของตนเองทั้งนั้น

   เปรียบเสมือนยารักษาโรค และการดูแลรักษา พระธรรมคำสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า เกี่ยวข้องกับ

ความทุกข์ และการดับทุกข์ โดยรวมไปถึงการป้องกัน และส่งเสริมสุขอนามัย ฉันใด พระธรรม

คำสอนของพระพุทธเจ้าก็มีขบวนการฉันนั้น ย่อมรวมไปถึงการส่งเสริมให้มีสุขภาพจิตที่ดี เพื่อ

ให้บรรลุถึงความสมบูรณ์เต็มที่และความหลุดพ้น โดยไม่มีกิเลสและความทุกข์เหลืออยู่เลย.

Rational  Way of Life

Many people in the world can no longer believe in a Creator God who is both

all powerful and all merciful for the tragic events they see all around them, the

ocean of suffering and distress do not support such a hypothesis.  At the same

time many people have a strong wish for a raditional way of life, something they

can turn to use as a barrage against the overwhelming materialism of our time.

       This is what early Buddhism gives.

No  Conflict  with  Science

and Psychology

With the advance of science and psychology many of the older faiths have

suffered.  Their beliefs went against the new knowledge and the new knowledge

won.  But in this conflict the teaching of Buddha required no adjustments.  Its

wisdom has encompassed everything that modern thought can devise.    Over

2551 years ago Buddhists had alreadly solved many of the problems that modern

  psychology is still discovering.
